- during the break, approximately a week and a half has passed
- in the meantime we discovered (by going through the library and the study) that Yue's position is a big deal
- letters are piling up in the guard house
- some from the court in town, one from the Eladrin Lords, etc.
- if Yue does not appear in court there will be consequences
- during this time Gromlin sneaks out and does not return
[Gromlin's player decided that he was not a good character and created a new one during this time]
- at this point we had five things we needed to deal with:
- court appearances
- planning a ball (for the coming of age of the Heir of the Eladrin Royals)
- a dragon to be slain
- dam to fix
- an escaped convict to track
- we decided to split up to accomplish these tasks (a bad idea but it work out well)
- all of us went to the courthouse and met with the Magistrate
- Sharah got info on the escaped convict and went to track it down
- it went North of the city -- up the mountain
- was a Wildin that looked like a flowering cactus (not a cactuar though, thank goodness)
- north of the city was a landscape of shrubs, low bushes, and lichen
- Sharah came across 2 cacti - she chose the correct one
- and poked it with her spear
- when it did not respond she kicked it
- it responded to that and she attempted to talk it into turning itself in
- didn't work
- she summoned her bear and battle begins
- Convict believes she can't hurt it because she does not have fire!
- she beats it up and it surrenders eventually (Sharah was told dead OR alive is fine)
- it agrees to go back if Sharah can promise that it will not be burned
- Sharah returns and turns the convict over to the Magistrate
- he agree to no burning (they don't burn convicts anyway) and the Wildin has a month in detention (no sunlight or food)
- Meanwhile Yue sits in court
- Yue and "Lord Rosh" (Fitz in disguise) convince the Magistrate that it would be best for the people to get used to Yue judging them because she is the heir he reluctantly agrees
- he also agrees to help Yue through the process because she has never been in an Eladrin court before
- the first case is a divorce case: the woman is filing for divorce because the man is emotionally negligent. Turns out this is because he is always working so as to keep them fed and clothed and the woman in shoes. After a small discussion she agrees to cut back on spending as well as work out a family budget and they leave without filing for a divorce. This is good because divorce would look badly for the town and on the Rosh House.
- the second case is one of Perjury: a woman is brought in and Yue was given a bell and a die. The die went in the bell, Yue rang it, and the sentence was proclaimed - Death.
- the third case was a case of incest: two Eladrin women were brought in (named Audio and Biblio). It came out that when they began the relationship they were not aware that they were sisters. The normal course of action was banishment for one of the couple. They were unwilling to halt their relationship even though they now knew of their relation. Yue gave them three options: 1) banishment for one; 2) death; or 3) they could come with her when she left for the mortal realm and try their luck there. They were warned that if they chose option 3 that they would be required to stay separate while they were in the Eladrin Lords' Realm. They chose option 3 and went to wait at the guardhouse for Yue to be done.
- the fourth case was not able to make it to court that day
- the fifth was a case of money laundering: an Eladrin school teacher was laundering money through her children's fundraisers. She was given 20 years in jail (Eladrin lifespans are longer than humans remember) and she told Yue that she had been taking the money from the magistrate's vault. Yue told the magistrate to check his vault and was done for the day.
- Meanwhile:
- Fitz-Maurice (in the guise of Lord Rosh) was directed to the mason's guild to affect dam repair. it went smoothly
- then went to find a bank so as to get money to pay the mason.
- the banker went over the funds with Fitz (Fitz was claiming to be a new copy of Rosh that wasn't yet sure of anything. -- the civic funds were going well (1 Million G), the private funds were in shambles (5000 G).
- banker explained about stamping and such.
- banker also gave Fitz directions to an event planner - Madam Ellis
- at Madam Ellis's Fitz was shown into a plush drawing room
- a butler informed Fitz the Madam Ellis was just with another client but that she would be with him soon
- once Fitz was talking with Madam Ellis there was a bit of a miscommunication when Fitz believed he would have to pay for the party out of the private funds. once it was cleared up that this counted as a civic venture, everything went smoothly
- Fitz then made a trip to the green grocer, butcher, and apocathery to obtain food and items to stock the manor up again.
- the Magistrate told Yue and Fitz that the city had hired a dragon hunter to kill the dragon when Lord Rosh was absent for several days. However, it would look bad if the dragon hunter killed the dragon now that Lord Rosh was back in the picture.
- we decide to kill the dragon tonight, as that the dragon hunter is already tracking the thing.
- Sharah is up for this plan.
- MacIsaac also comes along.
- the sisters stay at the manor and put away food and clean up and stuff.
- the plan is to kill the dragon that evening/night and then sleep all day to get ready for the party
- the dragon is prowling around the lake above the city (on the mountain)
- as we get close to the lake we hear sounds of battle
- a tall human wielding a greatsword is fighting the dragon
- dressed in scale mail with a large sun painted on the front
- yells out "FOR SOLARIS" often in battle
