Dungeons and Dragons Campaign 2: Session 2 (Worst Slave EVAR!)

- nearing late afternoon
- in northern section of Granada
- heading for city of Samson —> OOOOOOR NOT —> as reach city gates stopped by some guards looking for/to talk to Uriel
- “is Uriel the one asking around about the north?”
- diplomacy w/ guards - going well —> why Uriel, taking him where, etc.
- Gnasc:
  • -          sneaks off and scales the city walls
    -          knocks out a guard on the top of the wall
    -          raises the alarm on the wall (but not yet where the rest of us are)
    -          jumps down on the outer side of the wall
    -          sprints of being chased by guards - runs around in circles leading the guards on a merry chase
- He meant to cause a distraction to allow us to escape the guards but we were only talking to them and also he only made them suspicious
- Sharah: “worst slave ever”
- party taken captive - by suspicious guards
- Gnasc:
  • -          breaks into the city (back over the walls after losing the guards)
    -          stealthily follows the party
    -          Has secret convo w/ Sharah wherein she tells him to stay hidden until she shouts his name.
- we are brought to a bridge - over a river/moat - it is heavily armed
- the stones of the Palace & bridge shimmer with some sort of magic
- Gnasc’s bridge stunt:
  • -          jumps into river
    -          swims across (nearly drowns [only once though!])
    -          attempts to climb walls of palace finds out they have a spell to make them unclimbable
    -          sets off alarm
    -          meets guards (they come running)
    -          jumps - springboards off a guard’s shoulders
    -          grabs onto bottom of bridge
    -          bridge is shimmery just like castle and with the same spell
    -          hanging off of bottom of bridge
    -          party not acknowledging him
    -          party right above (which means more guards)
    -          Gnasc ties a noose with a piece of rope and lassoes a guard
  • -          pulls the rope
    -          guard is pulled over the edge (he was trying to anchor himself to climb up)
    -          FAIL
    -          guards shoot him full of arrows
- Sharah eats slave contract IN SHAME (tells everyone not to tell Gnasc)
- Gnasc begrudgingly goes into custody —> cell in dungeon —> too small for him (low ceilings)
- party: led through palace —> Fancy (not made for war)
- into Grand Audience Chamber (would make the elvish audience chamber from the last campaign look like and outhouse)
- 2 Tenku (Bird ppl) - Clotho & silent one (as in doesn’t speak - not a title)
- they also heard of troubles in the north —> ask why are we interested?
- we say possibly connected to our history
- “growing concern for all Genina, but specifically the north” - Clotho
- 2 ships were sent to investigate
- both late returning (Mother Harlot only 1 month, Mary Celeste v/ late)
- they will give us a ship to take us to the place the others were investigating
- BUT must provide info for ppl (them)
- 1 party member must stay behind to be liaison (they suggest Uriel b/c of psychic ritual that will allow contact) [this was very obviously DM’s bid to remove Uriel from the party as that he was no longer a player character so we didn’t fight it too hard]
- Morning: party: feast! Gnasc: prison food
- goodbye to Uriel
- get to ship (the Norn) —> smallish, NOT warship (but a few small cannons)
- Adventure pack reprovisioned
- small crew —> INCL. Clarice the cook
- journey expected to last 2 days
- asked to stay in cabins for launch (stay out of the way)
- emerge after lunch (not Fitz - Fitz+Daylight=PAIN)
- EVERYONE GONE!
- Yue goes to search the ship for a new tiller (the one on the ship was broken off)
- wooden gargoyle BATTLE
  1. -          Yue battles 1… then 2 on her own while calling for help.
    -          others arrive
    -          doing well when a door opens
    -          Clarice looks out then retreats
    -          this continues
    -          Sharah’s bear eventually in position to attack Clarice (is TOTALLY EVIL)
    -          at some point figure out if not high enough will gargoyles will deflect attacks onto nearby ally.
    -          Clarice has nec damage
    -          BUT no match for Gnasc and his amazing hit count!!! [srsly SO MANY HITS, SO MUCH DAMAGE]
    -          Gnasc beheads Clarice (so much for questioning her… but no one’s really sad)
    -          all gargoyles are eventually killed but not before Yue is unconscious for a little while
    -          VICTORY!
